A classic step indeed
MYSORE: It's a dance school with a difference. Here the parents are as much part of the institute as their kids.
Set up by young artiste Anitha Yathiraj, the Nrutya Vidyapeetha is distinctive, not just for it believes in nurturing every individual artiste to awaken the dancer within, but the Bharatanatyam school is actively managed by parents.
"I involve the parents of the students and some alumni in the committee for I believe they have a major role to play in managing an institute, which they trust will guide their children rightly.

And all those who are associated with the school are dedicated and cooperative. That makes organizing programmes and performances a fun," she exudes.
"I believe in providing quality education and thus my dance school is run differently," Anitha, 34, a disciple of the city-based danseuse Kripa Phadke and dance exponent K Muralidhar Rao. She says the students get individual attention. This is not without reason. "The Indian classical dance is a very special form of dance that speaks about the richness of Indian culture and it is important to educate the students about the art form the right way," she explains.
Perhaps for this distinctiveness, this institute was recognized and has collaborated with the University of Paris from where students come down to learn Bharatanatyam every year. They are trained and certified by Nruthya Vidyapeetha, says Anitha, who asserts her bonding with the students is more important than the association with the France university.
